Bridal bouquet bootcamp!

Ever wonder the history of the bridal bouquet? Where did this beautiful idea that is such a wedding focal point originate? For millennia flowers have meant a variety things to many civilizations. Flowers in ancient times symbolized new beginnings, faithfulness and fertility. Fast forward to the Middle Ages where spices and herbs were added to flower arrangements to mask the smell of body odor! One would think a wedding day might be a good time as any for a quarterly bath, but hey, who are we to judge! The modern bouquet made its birth in the Victorian Ages and was popularized by Queen Victoria. Thank you Queen!!

Planning a wedding is no easy task! When it comes to florals you may feel like your head is spinning from all the variations and options. It is no longer the Victorian times when things were simpler. With the help of Pinterest and Instagram it can often feel like we have 50 tabs open at any given time, literally and figuratively! One minute he’s on his knee and the next minute you are knee deep in planning a wedding! We find that a good floral starting point is to decide on what style bouquet you like best and then build from there. Here’s a quick Bouquet Bootcamp to get you started on your wedding floral journey!

Cascade Bouquet

This bouquet embodies a waterfall look with flowers and greenery cascading down the front of the arrangement. This style is also sometimes referred to as a presentation bouquet, pageant bouquet or even shower bouquet. These beautiful bouquets are a showstopper and look amazing paired with a simpler wedding dress.

Posy Bouquet

Posy Bouquets are a smaller bouquet with a timeless look. This bouquet features an assortment of flowers with  greenery and has a rounded shape. Posy’s are a smaller hand tied bouquet.

Round Bouquet

This is just about as classic as you can get! These round bouquets form a flower dome with usually the same flower or couple of flowers throughout the whole bouquet. These bouquets are typically monochromatic with slight to little variation in color. We love finishing these bouquets by wrapping the stems with a beautiful silk ribbon!
